Easter Cup
Dore & Totley's first major of the year was a resounding success. There were 121 Members who played in the Easter Cup and, with the greens in fantastic condition, there were a number of low scores. Congratulations must go to Nick Pugh who won the event with nett score of 68 (4 under par). WELL DONE! Please see the image below for a round up of all the winners As usual all the handicap changes will be on the notice boards outside the Pro Shop and shown on How Did I Do.
Divoting Evening
We are holding a divoting evening on Monday, 9 May.
We would be extremely grateful if you could spare an hour or two of your time to help fill divots with sand and seed. This will help maintain the fairways and make the course more defined.
Interesting Fact!
An average golfer will take 30 divots a round. If you multiply that by 200 rounds a day on a busy course. That adds up to a frightening amount of divots. With your help this will vastly reduce the amount of divots on the course and provide a better golfing surface.
This will be taking place at 5:00pm (Meet outside the Pro Shop) and we would be grateful if you could bring your own buckets/ shovel. Please could you contact the Pro Shop on 0114 2366844 (Opt 2), or click here, if you would like to help.

Position Is Everything
Hopefully you're all starting to enjoy a bit more golf now that we're into spring. In an effort to help you shoot lower scores, we'd like to share a few wedge play secrets.
One of the biggest causes of loose ball striking is poor ball positioning. So…
1. Check your ball is positioned correctly under your sternum (pictured below).
2. Now, you need to stay balanced and avoid swaying with your backswing. Leaning back to help the ball up moves the bottom of your swing arc away from the ball.
3. Once you're set-up correctly, it's about trusting the loft of your wedge to do its job. A good way to guarantee this is to take a divot after the ball, which should also help create spin for added control.
